animal-reiki-healingI love Reiki. I use it daily for myself, my animal and human friends and family, and with my animal and human clients. Reiki is an essential part of my “toolkit”, and I can’t imagine living without it.

One of the things I love most about teaching both Reiki and animal communication is how they can work together and support each other. Reiki and animal communication are two different modalities, but they can both be used to create healing and deeper understanding and connection between species.

In this post, I’ll share some of the ways that Reiki and animal communication can support each other, as well as some of the important differences between them.

What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a holistic healing modality for stress reduction, relaxation, and spiritual growth that also promotes healing.

Reiki is a simple, natural, and safe method of energy healing that anyone can use. It also works in conjunction with all other medical, veterinary, or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

Reiki is also a spiritual practice, one that is not connected to or affiliated with any religion, but that may be used as a way to connect with the universal source energy that is the essence of all authentic spiritual practices. Unlike some other spiritual traditions, the basic Reiki practices are simple, easy to learn and use, and may be practiced by anyone who has the desire to learn.

Reiki can be used with animals, and animals tend to love it. Reiki can help animals in the same ways it helps humans: to balance and nourish the physical body, and to balance mental and emotional energy.

Reiki is particularly effective in helping animals who have been traumatized, or who are experiencing physical or behavioral difficulties. Like telepathic animal communication, can assist animals in very powerful ways.

Reiki has been successfully taught to people of all ages and backgrounds all over the world.

How can Reiki Help People who are Learning and Practicing Animal Communication?

Reiki is universal source energy…and opening to it and working with it puts people in direct contact with the energy that connects all living beings. It’s a direct channel that bypasses the left-brain, thinking mind.

Reiki training includes a simple series of practices which help people to quiet their minds, enter a meditative state of awareness, and connect directly with the universal source energy. This is the same state of being that that we cultivate when we are developing our natural ability to communicate telepathically with animals.

Reiki sensitizes people to energy, and assists them in opening the channels to receive intuitive, energetic, and telepathic information and communication easily and clearly.

In my years of teaching both animal communication and Reiki, I’ve noticed that people who have Reiki training are able to use it to enhance their interspecies communication abilities, and that often it “turbo charges” people’s ability to send and receive telepathic and intuitive information clearly.

How Does Reiki Help Animals?

Reiki can help to support physical, mental, and emotional well-being in all species. Reiki can often help to access levels of healing and awareness that direct communication cannot.

animal reikiReiki helps animals to relax, and it helps humans to be in a state of being and awareness that animals find very easy to be with. Reiki is a meditative and quieting practice, and it helps practitioners to cultivate the state of being in which telepathic communication and intuitive impressions flow naturally and easily.

Animals are often very sensitive to energy, and can feel and deeply appreciate Reiki. I’ve worked with many animals, both domestic and wild, who are attracted to Reiki and the calming, peaceful energy field it creates. Reiki and animal communication can work together to support healing, transformation, and deeper understanding between species.

How are Reiki and Animal Communication Different?

Reiki and animal communication are not the same thing. They are different modalities, and it’s best if they are practiced as such, although there may be some overlap between the two.

It is not unusual for Reiki practitioners who are sharing Reiki with animals to receive direct communication from the animal in a Reiki session. This is because the Reiki energy creates the quiet, openhearted field of awareness where communication flows freely and is easily “heard” and received by both the human Reiki practitioner and the animal.

However, Reiki is not a focused or directed kind of practice. Because of this, it’s usually best to have a full, two-way communication separate from the Reiki session. This allows the practitioner to maintain a clear state of focus, allowing Reiki to be Reiki and allowing a two-way animal communication to have its own container, complete with dialogue and engagement with the animal’s human companion, if they have one.

It is also important for animal Reiki practitioners to have training, mentoring, and experience in animal communication, separate from their Reiki training, if they really want to develop their ability to communicate with animals. Knowing how to receive and differentiate accurate animal communication from human thoughts and ideas, and knowing how to use both Reiki and animal communication ethically and with integrity, are crucial skills to develop for both modalities.

How is Reiki for Animals Different than Reiki for Humans?

Reiki is Reiki; there is no difference in the Reiki energy whether it is used with humans or animals.

How humans and animals experience and receive Reiki, however, can vary greatly. When sharing Reiki with animals, it’s important to understand these differences. In the Reiki training classes that I teach, we address and work with these differences specifically.

Because of species differences, it is important to understand how to be in a state of Reiki presence, and share Reiki with animals, without imposing human protocols, techniques, and agendas that may not be appropriate for other-than-human beings.
