As a Reiki Practitioner and teacher, I am never surprised by, but I also never get “used to” hearing about remarkable experiences that people and animals experience with Reiki.
I’ve been practicing and teaching Reiki for over 15 years, and each time I teach a Reiki class, engage in my personal Reiki practice, or share Reiki with another, I am profoundly aware of the powerful potential for healing and transformation that are possible with Reiki.
There has been a significant amount of research in the human integrative medicine world on the benefits of Reiki, and Reiki is currently used as a complementary therapy in human hospitals worldwide, but there have been very few scientific studies on the effects of Reiki on animal health and well-being.
That’s why this recently published study on the impact of distant Reiki on the health and well-being of dogs is so important, and I’m excited to share it with you!
The American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA) Journal recently published a clinical study by Claudia Ruga Barbieri, DVM, MS, MBA, which studied the effects of distance Reiki on the quality of life and well-being of dogs.
The study demonstrated that dogs receiving distant Reiki showed significant pain reduction compared with the control group.
100% of the dogs who received distant Reiki over the course of 6 weeks showed improvement in their pain levels.
70% of the dogs experienced “excellent” or “moderate” pain relief.
This is a remarkable finding…and it’s exciting to have it in a published, clinical study.

I’m not surprised by these findings, as I have experienced first-hand the effects of Reiki with my own animal family, as well as with the animal companions of my students and clients.
While I wholeheartedly recommend Reiki sessions to anyone–Reiki can not do harm, and can only support–even better, in my opinion, is if people learn Reiki for themselves.
Reiki is a profound, deep, powerful energy healing modality and spiritual practice, AND it’s simple, easy to learn, and simple to practice. This is why I love it so much.
Anyone can learn Reiki, and anyone can share Reiki.
Reiki has changed my life in many ways, and I am so grateful to have this practice to support my own wellbeing and that of my animal companions, friends, students, and clients.
I would love to share Reiki with you!
