Unless you’ve been living in a cave for several months, you’re probably aware that we’ve got a big celestial event coming up on Monday of next week: a total Solar Eclipse in Leo,with the path of totality cutting a swath across the United States.
Eclipses are powerful celestial events that offer us a chance to reset. This energy is available whether or not you live in an area where the eclipse is visible. Individually and collectively, we are given the opportunity and the support to sink into the depths, enter the darkness, and begin again as the light returns.
I’m not an astrologer (though those of you who know me know that I’m a bit of an astrology geek). Here are two of my favorite astrologers’ sites and their perspectives about this eclipse (and the lunar eclipse that preceded it last week):

Pam Younghans, Northpoint Astrology
In my conversations with people over the last few weeks, I’m aware that many of us are working with releasing, healing old patterns, letting go of old ways of doing and being, and preparing for new openings and beginnings, whether internal or external. This is happening on both the individual and collective levels, and we’re seeing our outer realities reflecting what most needs to be seen, loved, heard, transformed, and reset in our experience and our consciousness.
Many of the animals I’ve been communicating with are aware of the intensity of these energies and the waves that are moving through our planet. Sometimes this results in imbalance in their nervous systems, just as in ours; sometimes they have wonderful advice for us on how to navigate and work with the intensity.
I asked my cat Louie, a master of terrestrial and celestial frequencies and an experienced teacher, for his perspective and wisdom for people about working with these energies. Louie spends most of his time doing work with the earth and the cosmos that I am barely able to understand, although he has been my companion for over 10 years. We are very close, and I’m also aware that I’m really his “manager”…he’s not here just for me, but for a much bigger work and purpose.
Louie shared: “It’s important for people to connect to the Earth and really FEEL her. Humans don’t do this enough. Sit on the earth, put your paws and belly on the ground, rest in the sun, roll in the dirt, and connect down… down… down… into the Earth and the energy that she contains. I do this all day, every day. If people did this more often, they would be much more balanced and connected. It’s so simple. I coordinate my breath and my purring with the Earth’s breath. The Earth breathes us. Humans can do this too with their breath.. although they don’t seem to be able to purr.”
I am wishing you and your loved ones grace, courage, and peace as we breathe, purr, and shift together.
