I love the time of the solstice – winter solstice in the northern hemisphere, and summer solstice for our friends south of the equator. In the middle of the holiday season, the solstice gives us an opportunity to connect with the rhythm of the earth, the quiet, still depth of the winter season, and to experience the perfect balance between day and night, light and dark, sun and moon.
The winter solstice reminds me to take time to go deep, to become still and quiet, to allow myself time to complete what needs to be completed, release what needs to be released, and open my heart and entire being gently to the first glimmers of the light of new beginnings.
Here in the high desert of New Mexico, our short, sunny days are punctuated by long, cold nights. Snow caps the mountains at the higher elevations, and we are enjoying winter hikes in the mountains among the fir, pine, and aspen. I am loving being able to use my snowshoes!
I find this time of year in the northern hemisphere to be one of deep contemplation, stillness, and quiet. In my reflections this year, I’m filled with immense gratitude for all of the gifts of my life, for the precious beauty of our Earth and all she holds.
I wish you and your families a blessed holiday season, whatever your traditions. I’m grateful for each of you, for your support of this work, and for the deep calling of your hearts to connection and communion with the spirit in all life.May all beings be peaceful.
May all beings be happy.
May all beings be safe.
Peace, Peace, Peace.
