Happy New Year! As 2020 comes to a close, and we turn our attention, and intentions, toward 2021, I thought I’d share a few highlights of news stories that touched my heart and filled me with hope and joy in this past year:

Researchers “discover” a “new” whale species (the whales aren’t new, but human awareness of them is…what a beautiful connection these whales made with these people!) December, 2020 – https://seashepherd.org/2020/12/08/sea-shepherd-research-mission-discovers-possible-new-species-of-whale-in-mexico/

Southern Resident Orcas Celebrate Talequah’s New Calf: (September, 2020) – https://nancywindheart.com/southern-resident-orcas-celebrate-talequahs-new-calf/

This podcast: The Social Life of Forests, on the work of the Canadian ecologist Suzanne Simard who discovered that, while there is indeed conflict in a forest, there is also negotiation, reciprocity and even selflessness.Ms. Simard discovered that underground fungal threads link nearly every tree in a forest – https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-daily/id1200361736?i=1000501497937

And finally, here is a short video clip of the Sandhill Cranes at the Rio Grande River near my home. It’s one of the great blessings of living in New Mexico when the cranes arrive in the fall and winter!

I wish you and your families peace, joy, and abundant blessings in 2021. May you connect with what you most deeply love, and hold each day as a precious gift.
